Carl Froch names the top heavyweight who can bring back 'the old Anthony Joshua'

Carl Froch names the top heavyweight who can bring back 'the old Anthony Joshua'DAZN
Anthony Joshua's next fight is yet to be announced.

Carl Froch believes Zhilei Zhang could be the right opponent to bring back an aggressive Anthony Joshua.

Zhang is arguably the most dangerous name in the divsion right now after two knockout wins over Joe Joyce, and while he is a mandatory challenger for unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, a fight with Joshua could be huge for Zhang's career.

The pair have previous history after meeting at the London 2012 Olympics. On that occasion, Joshua won with a second round knockout, but he is yet to face Zhang in the professional ranks.

With no progress being made when it comes to a meeting with Deontay Wilder, a clash with Zhang is an option for Joshua as he looks to mount another world title challenge and Froch thinks that this could be the right move for his fellow countryman.

Since back-to-back losses to Usyk, Joshua has produced mixed performances. Against Jermaine Franklin in April, he was criticised for not showcasing the hard-hitting style which made him such as huge name, but this seems to be slowly coming back after knocking out Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena five months later.

If Joshua is to remain a credible threat and legitimate contender for the top prizes at heavyweight, he will need to keep producing highlight-reel knockouts and Zhang could be the right dance partner to bring out 'the old AJ' according to Froch.

"I think it's a great fight and I can see how either of them could win that," Froch told Best Gambling Sites

"AJ is younger and fresher and he seems fit for 12 rounds and Zhang tires after five or six, and he’s getting old at 41 years old. But, like Tony Bellew said, if he's put under pressure and is forced to fight, maybe the old AJ will come back."
