Tyson Fury recently suffered a cut in sparring.

Tyson Fury dropped awful news last week when he announced that a cut suffered in sparring had ruled him out if his February 17 clash with Oleksandr Usyk.

The contest, scheduled to have all four heavyweight titles, was going to be one of the biggest fights of 2024, but it will now take place in May once Fury has fully healed.

Since the announcement regarding the injury, some within the sport are frustrated at the news as many are eager to find out who is the best heavyweight.

One person who has been vocal about the cut is Carl Froch, and the former world champion, currently embroiled in a war of words with John Fury, has had his say.

“I’m not so sure [that it will happen in May]. To start with, I wasn’t so sure about the cut, I wanted to see the cut and I wanted to see him stitched up,” said Froch to Talksport

“After seeing Tyson Fury last night on his Instagram, the cut to me doesn’t look like an acute injury, it looks like an injury that is healing. It is scabbed over, the swelling has gone down, and the bruising looks about a week to ten days old.

“What difference that has, I don’t know, but have they been sitting on this and waiting for the right time to give the news?”
