Carl Froch believes that he had what it takes to defeat Canelo Alvarez.
A brilliant run at super-middleweight saw Froch capture world titles whilst also raking up wins against highly respected operators such as Jean Pascal, Mikkel Kessler, and Lucian Bute.
In 2014, following a memorable two fight series with long-time nemesis George Groves, Froch walked away from boxing fully content with what he had achieved.
Now a respected pundit with his eyes constantly focused on the sport, Froch, ahead of Canelo’s unification clash with Caleb Plant, says he would've defeated the Mexican icon if they ever shared a ring.
“I would’ve loved that fight,” said Froch when speaking with ProBoxingFans. “If I was in my prime and my prime being the back end of my career. “I was a mature, seasoned, professional world champion. I had suffered defeats, come back and won.
“So, me in my prime at about 34, 35-years-old against Canelo Alvarez, I think I would have been too much for him. I think that myself, the viewers, and the listeners can think what they want, but I back myself in fights.”
The Canelo vs. Plant fight will not air on DAZN. However, The DAZN Boxing Show will be in Las Vegas during fight week for live episodes, exclusive interviews and more.
