Carlos Adames believes that his fight tonight against Julian Williams will not go the distance.
Williams challenges Adames for his WBC interim middleweight championship belt.
The 33-year-old had struggled at 154lbs, and after being stopped by Jeison Rosario in a one-sided fight, and then losing to Vladimir Hernandez, he moved up to 160lbs.
In his first fight at middleweight, he defeated Rolando Mansilla with a comfortable points win, and he hopes that his newfound comfort will help him challenge the incumbent.
Adames, the favourite with the bookmakers, remains confident, saying: “It’s gonna be a good fight but it’s not gonna go long with my power,” reported BoxingScene.com.
“I sparred him myself. It’s a different type of monster right here.”
Williams will hope that a victory will move him into position to challenge Jermall Charlo for the outright belt, but he may have to wait for his fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, or see if the belt is vacated.
