Former NFL player Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson took on Brian Maxwell as part of the Floyd Mayweather v Logan Paul undercard at the weekend, and it spurred him on to jokingly put himself forward as Conor McGregor’s next opponent.
Maxwell and Johnson put on a hearty display on Sunday evening but it was Maxwell’s right-hander which sent Johnson to the canvas.
Johnson was not too disappointed with the result, and given he only had a few weeks before stepping into the ring it was an impressive and courageous performance from the pair.
However, despite the knockdown, Johnson is still keen to get back into the ring, joking that perhaps UFC fighter McGregor could be his next opponent.
“I had fun,” he said at the fight’s conclusion.
“My life has always been about taking chances, doing crazy stuff, and this is one off my bucket list. For people that are content, scared to fail, get out there and live, man. Don’t be scared to fail, it’s okay!
“I don’t box,” he admitted.
“I fight, but it ain’t in the ring. So of course I was a little sloppy. I had fun. I think I’m ready for [Conor] McGregor!”
