Charles Martin willing to take on Dillian Whyte this summer and threatens to knock him outDAZN
Charles Martin believes a rematch with Anthony Joshua can be achieved by beating Dillian Whyte.

Charles Martin is the latest American fighter to send out a warning to Dillian Whyte. The British contender has been linked to a contest with unbeaten Jermaine Franklin in recent days, but Charles Martin, a former victim of Anthony Joshua back in 2016, has expressed an interest in taking on the Brixton man.

Martin, the ex-IBF heavyweight champion, has been inactive since February 2020 but he’s welcomed a showdown with Whyte following talk that “The Bodysnatcher” is set to fight in America this August. Martin believes a win over Whyte could open the door for a rematch with Joshua.

"Joshua never fought the real me,” Martin told Sky Sports. “Taking that fight when I was hurt and unprepared is the biggest mistake of my life, but it's a mistake I'm going to correct before I retiree. It's the only reason I'm still fighting. Knocking out Dillian Whyte would put me one step closer to Joshua.

"Fury vs Wilder III is happening and then maybe a couple of fights between that winner and Joshua, so while I'm waiting, I want to fight the best available, and I want to welcome Dillian Whyte to the United States with another knockout loss.

Martin added, "Whyte is an easy fight. He takes too many clean punches. Unfortunately, Eddie Hearn don't want nothing to do with me beating his man. Whyte said he wanted an easy fight after getting his clock cleaned by Povetkin.

“I guess he don't want to get his clock cleaned again if he fights me. I'm going to get back in the ring soon. We have something lined up, but once I heard Whyte was coming to the US, I can't resist wanting to make that fight.”
