Jai Opetaia will be a keen spectator when Richard Riakporhe and Chris Billam-Smith meet for the latter’s WBO cruiserweight title at Selhurst Park this weekend.
Opetaia is eager to collect all the world titles in his division and the IBF ruler could start the quest against Saturday’s winner.
Billam-Smith goes into the bout as champion, but he will begin the contest a small underdog against the unbeaten Riakporhe.
The pair shared a ring in 2019 when Riakporhe took a narrow decision, and Opetaia is hoping to share the ring with the victor in the near future.
“We want these unification fights to happen. It doesn’t matter who wins the fight. Just whoever does, let’s make it happen,” said Opetaia when speaking to Boxing Scene.
“We’ve been chasing it for a long time, so it’s about time we fight for another one.”
