Claressa Shields has welcomed the idea of a rematch with Savannah Marshall after finally settling her decade long wait for revenge on Saturday night.
Beaten by Marshall as amateurs in 2012, Shields proved she was too good for the British fighter as her superior skillset allowed her to take the verdict via unanimous decision.
After becoming undisputed champion at middleweight, Shields is yet to confirm her next move. After a brief stint in MMA recently, the Flint fighter could once again make a move into the cage if she decides she needs another challenge.
Speculation is out there regarding a rematch against Marshall and Shields is open to that as long as the fight takes place in America.
“I’m still not turning away from a rematch with Savannah,” said Shields when speaking to Sky Sports .
“If her and her team want it then come over to the USA and we can get it done.
“I just feel like that if I come and fought her on her home turf, she needs to know what it feels like to come to my territory. I want her to have to experience what I experienced and we’re gonna see if she fights the same.”
