Conah Walker, Lewis Ritson vow to 'steal the show' on Edwards vs. Yafai card

A pair of fighters coming off losses each look to get back on track on Saturday as Conah Walker and Lewis Ritson prepare to square off in Birmingham.

The welterweight bout is part of the Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai card, which will be shown live on DAZN, and both Walker and Ritson expect an entertaining contest that they feel could "steal the show."

Walker (13-3-1, 5 KOs) was last in action in June when he fell to Lewis Crocker by unanimous decision, ending a two-fight win streak for the Wolverhampton man. The defeat hasn't dimmed his confidence however, and Walker is looking forward to facing an opponent in Ritson who won't back down.

"It’s been another great camp and you’ve given me a fighter that is going to stand there and have it off with me, which plays in my favour," Walker said at Thursday's pre-fight press conference. "I’m in impeccable shape and I’m ready to go and we’ll steal the show."

The 29-year-old Walker is just two years younger than Ritson, but he feels that time is on his side against an opponent who has 10 more fights under his belt.

"You can never look past anyone, especially someone like Lewis Ritson because of what he’s done in the sport, he’s been at the top level and I’ve got a lot of respect for him," Walker said.

"I just believe that boxing is about your time, and I think that his time is done and my time is here and now."

As for Ritson (23-4, 13 KOs), he echoed his opponent's sentiment about what kind of fight will be in store for each of them.

"We’re ready, fit as anything, and I’m sure Conah is as well," Ritson said. "We’ve got that similar style in that we love to fight each other, so on Saturday night I’m expecting fireworks really and a very tough night for both of us."

Ritson is coming off back-to-back losses, to Ohara Davies and Paddy Donovan, respectively. However, the 31-year-old insists that the setbacks aren't a sign that he is on the decline as Walker suggests.

"I’m only 31," Ritson said. "It feels like I’ve been going for more, so roll back the years on Saturday and get the career back going."
