Is Amir Khan next for Conor Benn?
The former world champion was ringside to watch Benn stop Chris Van Heerden in two rounds, and he joined the victor in the ring afterwards.
Benn has made light work out of a number of fighters with previous world class credentials and it’s likely that he would fancy his chances of doing the same to Khan.
The 2004 Olympic silver looked finished when losing in six one-sided rounds to Kell Brook this year, but could his experience still be a factor against a fighter still learning on the job.
Benn has set his sights on facing someone like Keith Thurman or Danny Garcia this year, but with Khan standing next to him in the ring, the question was put to him on a potential fight with Khan.
“Idols to rivals, every young and upcoming fighter wants to challenge themselves,” said Benn when speaking with DAZN after his latest success.
"Do the people want to see the fight? Everyone they put in front of me, I deal with them.”
Khan also had his say, “[Benn’s] a young, hungry lion. Who knows? Do the people even want to see this fight? It’s tough, he’s a great champ but let’s see what happens.
"At the moment, I’m just enjoying my time off and I’m going to get back in the gym again. This is great motivation so let’s see what Eddie [Hearn] says.”
