UFC star Conor McGregor has given his thoughts on the alleged purse bet between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia ahead of their fight on Saturday night live on DAZN.
Earlier this week during an Instagram live, Davis and Garcia supposedly agreed to bet their entire purse on who will win the clash in Las Vegas.
This has been an action which has sparked debate amongst many figures within the combat sports world and McGregor is the latest name to give his thoughts on the supposed wager on Twitter.
"(Have) any competing fighters bet their purse against each other and then followed through?", he noted.
"We should stop doing this. Fighting is tough. It can go anyway. Luck plays a hell of a part.
"Don’t be saying you are betting your fight purse against each other. Because it never happens."
Previous instances of other fighters and their promoters placing supplementary wagers on their bouts have been swiftly shut down by governing bodies due to conflicts and legal blocks.
Nonetheless, Saturday's bout - available on DAZN PPV in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and as part of a regular DAZN subscription in select other regions including the United Kingdom and Ireland - promises to be a facinating battle of two unbeaten rising stars.
With Davis' punching power and Garcia's fast hands, these two key attributes should make for a thrilling contest at the T-Mobile in a fight which will bring the boxing world to a standstill on April 22.
