Canelo Alvarez has a huge target on his back.

Tim Tszyu has welcomed a future showdown with Canelo Alvarez as he prepares to face Brian Mendoza this weekend.

Tszyu became WBO champion at 154lbs last month when Jermell Charlo was stripped, and the Australian fighter is looking to make the first of many successful defences when he takes on Mendoza.

Despite having his hands full with the American this coming Saturday, Tszyu is already looking ahead at future opportunities.

The son of former 140lbs ruler, Kostya Tszyu, Tim’s name has been linked to the likes of Terence Crawford and Jermell Charlo, but is a jump to super-middleweight really appealing to Tszyu?

“I’d welcome that Canelo fight with both hands,” said Tszyu when speaking with FightHype

“That’s another legacy-defining type of fight. I would love to. It would definitely be entertaining, that one, because it’d be a great match-up with styles.”
