Daniel Dubois 'dealt with adversity' against Jarrell Miller, claims punditDAZN
The British fighter won handily.

The DAZN Boxing Show discussed Daniel Dubois’ impressive win over Jarrell Miller at the "Day of Reckoning" event last weekend.

Dubois was coming off the back of a morale-sapping defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in August when he missed out on the chance to become unified heavyweight champion.

Miller, meanwhile, was looking to stay active for his fourth fight of the year (including an exhibition runout in the summer), as he aimed to get back to his best following a lengthy spell out with a drugs ban.

Big Baby had been goading his British rival for most of the week beforehand and early on in the ring, it looked like the American’s attempts to walk him down might prove effective.

However Dubois not only rallied, but he demolished Miller with a late stoppage and earned the respect of his opponent in the process.

Dubois has now been linked with a fight with Anthony Joshua, amongst other big heavyweight names, and Barak Bess - speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show - thinks it was a career-affirming performance.

He said: “I would say that Daniel Dubois dealt with adversity in that fight. He looked defeated, in his face, a couple of times in the early rounds ‘cos Big Baby, he never stops. A couple of times he may have hurt Dubois.

“That mental pressure he put on him there, even before the fight and during the fight, coming at him. A lot of people say that it breaks a fighter down. I think he did come through that adversity, he dug deep and stuck to that jab.

“Whenever he stuck to that jab, he did very well, and whenever he got close, he allowed himself to get hit, so I’ve got to give him props for that.

“I think for Miller, he was trying to start that psychological warfare beforehand because he knew he was out of shape. He never really had anything against this kid, I think he was trying to soften him up mentally.”
