Danny Garcia unconcerned by weight ahead of Erislandy Lara title clashDAZN
The pair fight next month.

Danny Garcia is not worried by a move up in weight as he prepares to fight Erislandy Lara on September 14.

The pair fight as the co-main for Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga, live on DAZN .

At stake in Las Vegas is Lara’s WBA middleweight belt, and it will be the first time in two years that Garcia has fought, as well as the first time he has ever fought at 160lbs.

Speaking at a press conference for the fight, Garcia showed his respect for his upcoming opponent.

“I’ve got a tough fight against Lara,” he said, reported BoxingScene . “He’s been around as long as I’ve been around. Two, two-division champions going at it.

“It’s going to be an epic night. I’m looking forward to making history. I just feel blessed to be back. I love boxing like a fat kid loves cake.”

Addressing the weight change, Garcia was not worried, focusing instead of the mental side of the sport: “I feel like boxing’s all mental. You can do whatever you put your mind to. I know mentally I can do anything that I put my mind to. It’s just weight.

“Boxing’s about skill and will. At the end of the day, when you’re tired, and you’re going into those championship rounds, it’s all about who’s got the most will. They can box, but everyone knows Danny Garcia can fight. I come to fight.

“I know I’m great and when you’re great you take a shot at greatness and that’s why I’m here.”
