Darren Till has not held back when it comes to the real reason why his fight with Tommy Fury was cancelled.
The pair were set to meet at this weekend's X Series event in Manchester live on DAZN, but Fury instead pulled out following threats from Till that he would kick him in the head.
As a result, Till will now face Anthony Taylor with former Misfits commentator Wade Plemons competing on the undercard.
While Till will be focused on Taylor, Fury's name and actions continues to overshadow this event, and now the former UFC star has pulled back the curtain on why he thinks "TNT" backed out of the contest.
“We had a press conference where some words got said. I said I'd kick him in the head if I was losing the fight. But Tommy's seen my contract. Anything like that, especially from me, from my side, because I'm an MMA fighter and he's a pure boxer. I would have lost all pay and I would have been sued by the promoters, which is obviously Misfits," Till told Fanvue.
"When he pulled out, I don't think he informed either the promoters or my team. But he put an Instagram story up and that's how I found out, like everyone else.
"After that he did an interview when Tyson was fighting in Saudi Arabia, saying: oh, Darren was speaking to betting companies. It's like he’s just clutching at straws. So that's the truth of it. On my kid's life, I wasn't speaking to betting companies. For what? Just because I was going to kick him in the head. He's just a dafty. He's just a big dafty.”
The clash with Taylor will be Till's Misfits Boxing debut, and he is coming up against an opponent who has won his last two fights by way of knockout.
Darren was speaking in his new role as an ambassador for content creator platform, Fanvue where he will be sharing behind the scenes content and interacting with fans ahead of the fight this weekend.
