Derek Chisora lost to Joseph Parker in a rematch at the end of 2021.

A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the career of British heavyweight Derek Chisora following his loss to Joseph Parker last December in what turned out to be a thrilling contest.

One name that has been mentioned as a future opponent for Chisora is former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

However, if a fight between the two does happen this year, one man who won't be in Chisora's corner is trainer Dave Coldwell.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Coldwell believes a fight with Wilder would be a difficult night for the 38-year-old veteran.

"No, no, no. It’s not something I wanna see. I think it’s just too hard a night for him," Coldwell said when asked about whether he would train Chisora for a potential clash with Wilder.

"Derek’s Derek and he’ll do what he wants to do.

“It doesn’t matter what anybody says, it’s the same as how he’s been all the way through his career.

“When it comes down to, ‘Does he fight again or doesn’t he fight again?’ Yes, he will listen to people’s advice when it comes to opponents and things like that, but Derek wants to fight certain people.

“If he wants the fights, then they’ll happen.

“If I had my way, he wouldn’t be fighting Deontay Wilder, that’s for sure.”
