The former super middleweight champion wants another shot at the title.

David Benavidez celebrated victory over Kyrone Davis on Saturday night by calling for a fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The 24-year-old American has held belts at 168lbs twice before and he now wants to challenge the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Victory came for Benavidez when Davis’ head trainer, Stephen Edwards, threw in the towel in the seventh round as his opponent grew more dominant.

Benavidez now boasts 22 KOs in 25 fights, winning each of them. Speaking after the fight, he explained that he now wants to take on Canelo.

"It was tough but I have so much condition, I'm going to keep going until he eventually stops," he said. "I think everybody wants to see me against Canelo. I'll go through anybody; whoever they want me to go through."

“That was a great performance on my end,” he added.

“A lot of courage by Kyrone, too, man. I respect him a lot, him and his team. Tough dude and he came out here to give the fans a good fight, too. So, we both left it all out in the ring today, so thank you everybody.”
