It feels like the next year or so could have a huge impact on the career of David Benavidez.
The two-time world super middleweight champion is back in action on November 25 when he takes on former world middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade in Las Vegas.
If Benavidez walks away with the win, there will once again be calls for a fight with the undisputed champion at 168lbs, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
However, there have been a number of previous opportunities over the years to make this fight, and for one reason or another, both parties have failed to reach an agreement.
It looks like pursuing a date against Alvarez could be on the agenda once again if he beats Andrade, however, he told FightHype.com in a recent interview that a replacement has been lined up if this particular fight fails to materialise.
"If that fight doesn’t happen, I’ll fight David Morrell,” Benavidez said.
“That’ll be a great fight.”
