Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga may be the biggest boxing event taking place this coming Saturday live on DAZN, but there is a name which continues to overshadow this contest, David Benavidez.
Many are disappointed that Alvarez will not be defending his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles against Benavidez for his next fight, and with the Mexican frequently wanting a huge payday in order to face Benavidez, this clash seems further away than ever.
However, with the opening bell in Las Vegas edging ever closer, Benavidez's father and trainer, Jose Sr., still had time to pick his winner for the unified world super middleweight title fight.
“I wish Berlanga can beat Canelo so he can take over the belts and maybe we can have more opportunities," he told BoxingScene.
“Because right now, Canelo does what he wants [and fights who he wants]. People don't like that anymore. The fights he's getting are not interesting or exciting.”
