David Benavidez expects to fight one of David Morrell, Caleb Plant or Jermall Charlo next.

Each of the three would represent progress of a sort for the former WBC champion at 168lbs, who maintains an unbeaten record despite losing his belts twice in his career.

Morrell is the WBA ‘regular’ champion at super middleweight, offering the chance for the 25-year-old American to secure a world title, while former IBF champion Plant would prove his worth at the top of the division. Charlo, meanwhile, is a big name at 160lbs and the WBC champion at middleweight, so would make for a popular fight, with all four fighters represented by PBC.

“I feel like if they don’t [fight me], it puts a lot of pressure on them,” Benavidez said to BoxingScene.com. “They’re trying to talk this big talk that everyone’s scared of them. Well, right now I’m trying to get the fights with everyone.

“I’m trying to get the next best thing. If I don’t, well I’m the interim WBC super middleweight titleholder now. They’re going to be missing out on a good thing, a fight where we can really put it all on the line.”

Benavidez last fought in May when he defeated David Lemieux, a former IBF champion at middleweight.

“We’ll see what happens but I do believe we’re really close to making these fights happen. Plant, Charlo, Morrell, I believe we’ll see these fights next for me,” he said.
