Deontay Wilder has been given a six-month medical suspension after being knocked out by Tyson Fury in their trilogy fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After being knocked out by Fury in round 11, Wilder was immdiately rushed to hospital and is set to undergo surgery on a broken right hand next week.
As a result of the suspension, Wilder will not be able to return to the ring until April 8 unless he is cleared to fight by a doctor beforehand.
It is unclear when Wilder broke his hand on Saturday night where he also suffered damage to both his finger and knuckle.
Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel gave more information about Wilder's injuries when speaking to The Sun post fight.
"Deontay broke his right hand behind the third knuckle and he has to have that fixed next week," Finkel said.
"He has to have surgery, the knuckle is OK, it's the bone behind the knuckle that broke. He's sore but he was OK, he was home yesterday."
"He's healing and at this point, if everything is OK, after the hand surgery he'll probably look to enter the ring mid next year, like April or May."
