Former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has described Saturday's undisputed welterweight clash between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford as 'beautiful'.

After years of build-up, the two welterweight champions finally went head-to-head in Las Vegas and it was Crawford who emerged victorious, scoring three knockdowns before the contest was eventually stopped in round nine.

Ahead of the first bell, many fans were struggling to predict a winner with both Spence and Crawford at the peak of their powers, but Crawford's dominance was something which did not shock Wilder.

"It was a beautiful fight," Wilder told the Boxing News YouTube channel when asked to give a reaction to the fight before discussing Crawford's performance.

"I wasn’t, that’s what he’s [Terence Crawford] all about," was Wilder's verdict on whether Crawford's one-sided performance turned out to be a surprise.

"Errol looked a little bit drained, but as fighters we want to fight on, no stopping, no throwing the towel in, that’s what we train for, to keep going.

"He [Crawford] is the best in that division."
