Deontay Wilder will need just five rounds to defeat Tyson Fury in their trilogy rematch according to the American’s trainer, Malik Scott.
Scott was brought in by Wilder in anticipation of another shot at WBC champion Tyson Fury as he pursued an arbitration case to force a second rematch between the pair.
Fury lost the decision, which left his plans to fight Anthony Joshua in August in tatters. He then planned to face Wilder in July only to see a coronavirus infection put the event back to October 9. In the meantime, Joshua will face his WBO mandatory Oleksandr Usyk.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Scott explained some of Fury’s weaknesses that he hopes Wilder will be able to exploit in Las Vegas.
"Fury fights with his hands down, at times with his chin up, at times he comes forwards, at times he is close with his hands down,” he said.
"He has been knocked down by guys who hit less hard than Deontay. He is very vulnerable.
"I've never seen Fury fight and say: 'Wow he is unbeatable'.
"On his best day he looks good but still looks beatable.
"This Deontay would knock out the old Deontay in two rounds. He is 10 times more focused, training 100 times harder.
"It is a violent camp. His mentality is very violent.
"This will be the best version of Deontay Wilder that you have ever seen."
Wilder in the past has been described as a puncher more than an adept boxer, but Scott believes the Bronze Bomber has the intelligence to win.
"They underestimate his IQ," Scott said. "He is not some big, dumb guy who just throws a right hand.
"There is method to his madness.
"Deontay's IQ is very high. I watch him create, watch him put himself in position, set guys up into surgical traps.
"Deontay will knock Fury out inside of five rounds."
