Devin Haney gives major update on Vasiliy Lomachenko rematch

Devin Haney gives major update on Vasiliy Lomachenko rematchDAZN
Devin Haney faces Regis Prograis this month.

Devin Haney returns to action this weekend when he looks to become WBC champion at 140lbs against Regis Prograis.

Haney enjoyed an impressive run at lightweight and is now looking to add further honours to his growing profile, but the issue of facing Vasiliy Lomachenko for a second time won’t go away for the Las Vegas based fighter.

Earlier this year, Haney faced the sternest test of his career when he was pushed all the way by the brilliant Ukrainian.

Despite winning the bout on all three judges’ scorecards, the decision was seen as controversial within the sport, with many believing that Lomachenko should've won.

A rematch has been frequently mentioned and Haney has provided an update on that matter.

“I had a talk with my dad and Top Rank about what a rematch would look like, what would the figures be, and like I said, it didn’t add up. It didn’t make sense, you know?” Said Haney when speaking to The Ring

“I know that it will be a big fight, much bigger than the first one. It was controversy, of course, the second one was going to be bigger, but the numbers didn’t seem to be that much bigger.”
