LAS VEGAS — It got intense at the end of Thursday's Devin Haney-Jo Jo Diaz Jr. press conference. The WBC champion and challenger went nose-to-nose and had to be separated.
Before they step inside the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Haney and Diaz got one final look at one another at Friday's weigh-in and they didn't disappoint.
Diaz (32-1-1, 15 KOs), the former IBF junior lightweight champion, came to the scale first and weighed in at muscular 134.8 pounds. Haney (26-0, 15 KOs) was next and easily made weight, coming in at a ripped 135 pounds. Then the fun began.
Like Thursday, Haney and Diaz went nose-to-nose. But this time around, both guys verbally sparred back-and-forth for nearly a minute before being separated by their respective teams.
