Dmitry Bivol explained how he made his win over Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez look easy.

The 31-year-old WBA light heavyweight champion made a defence of his title earlier this month and now appears set for a waiting game as he sees which of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and unified light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is available soonest.

The fighter appeared on The DAZN Boxing Show to discuss his recent victory as well as his thoughts on his future, and when told he made the win over the Mexican look easy, he had an example to illustrate why it may look like that from the outside.

“When I see something, when people come to work in my house, they do it easily. They fix something, and then I try to do it! It’s not easy, they’re just professionals,” he said.

However, he conceded that the match-up had gone according to plan, but he had to remain on point throughout the bout to ensure he retained his strap.

He added: “I expected that he would be like this, that the fight would be like this from Ramirez. He did everything he could, he threw a lot of body punches.

“He tried to catch me on the body. It wasn’t easy for me - it looks easy. All fight I was focused, I tried to push him every time. I took a little bit in round eight. Inside it was not easy.”

Bivol’s next fight could be in May against Canelo, but Beterbiev has suggested he may not be able to fight his compatriot until Ramadan is over next year.
