Dmitry Bivol picks preferred fight out of Canelo Alvarez and Artur BeterbievDAZN

Dmitry Bivol would prefer to fight Artur Beterbiev over Canelo Alvarez.

Bivol defeated Alvarez back in May to defend his WBA light heavyweight belt in a fight for which he was considered the underdog.

Such was the dominance of his win that he is now considered a top 10 pound-for-pound fighter and is linked with an undisputed clash with the division’s other champion, Artur Beterbiev.

First he has a title defence against Zurdo Ramirez, shown live on DAZN on November 5.

Bivol is not looking past Ramirez, and when asked about his next opponent, the WBA 175lb champion told The DAZN Boxing Show that he is a, “Tall southpaw. He’s good, he’s tall, he has a strong, heavy left hand. He uses the body shot with the left hand a lot. Maybe he’s not got too much speed like Canelo, but he’s good.”

Asked about how Ramirez compares to Canelo, Bivol explained: “They’re two different, different fighters. Of course Canelo is more popular but about boxing skills, maybe Canelo is better, but they’re different. Zurdo is taller, he weighs more, but Canelo has good speed and one of them is a southpaw.”

Alvarez is due to fight Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17 in a much-anticipated trilogy fight live on DAZN PPV and DAZN, and when asked who he would like to fight most out of Canelo or the unbeaten Beterbiev, he chose the man who can make him undisputed at 175lbs.

“Of course against Beterbiev, to fight against the guy who has three belts,” Bivol said.
