Dmitry Salita names three future 'big' fights for Claressa Shields

Dmitry Salita names three future 'big' fights for Claressa ShieldsDAZN

Claressa Shields' promoter, Dmitry Salita, believes there are a number of big matchups to be made for his fighter after her clash with Maricela Cornejo.

The undisputed women's middleweight champion is back in action on Saturday when she takes on Cornejo on Saturday night in a fight which many expect her to win.

If that is the case, then there are number of avenues she can pursue including a rematch with a British rival.

"There’s Natasha Jonas," Salita told The DAZN Boxing Show when asked about what could be next for Shields.

"Depending on what happens between Savannah Marshall and Franchon Crews. The winner of that fight could make an interesting rematch because she beat [both] of them."

Shields beat Marshall in her previous outing last November, and Crews-Dezurn when she turned professional in 2016.

Since that first encounter with Crews-Dezurn, Shields has become good friends with the current women's super middleweight champion, but Salita believes that will not be a problem if the offer is right for the two to face each other for a second time.

"They were close before that. Not today, but as we know in boxing things change so maybe," Salita continued.

"Cecilia Braekhus is a big fight for her, she’s a legend and Claressa is the new legend. For both of them to meet I think would be very significant."
