Gervonta Davis scored the biggest win of his career so far when he stopped the previously unbeaten Ryan Garcia last weekend.
The result, which took place in boxing’s biggest fight of 2023, provided Davis widespread acclaim as he recovered from a slow start to pretty much dominate the bout before halting matters in round seven.
With no world title at stake in the fight, Davis, a fighter who has already captured glory at the highest level, will be hungry to get back amongst world titles, but did the win grant ‘Tank’ a spot in the DAZN Pound for pound rankings?
At this stage, the answer is no. Although Davis’ win was mightily impressive, Garcia’s lack of world class opponents on his own record means Davis just misses out.
Jermell Charlo, the undisputed ruler at 154lbs, is currently in tenth position and his better body of work keeps him one spot ahead of Davis for the time being.
