Does Jake Paul deserve a world ranking? Eddie Hearn has his sayDAZN

Jake Paul is set to be ranked within the WBC this weekend if he’s able to get past big rival, Tommy Fury, in Saudi Arabia.

The popular YouTuber is eager to make a huge splash in boxing and if he can secure victory against Fury, Paul’s dream of being seen as a viable contender will move a step closer thanks to the Mexican organisation.

The decision to include Paul in the ratings courtesy of defeating Fury is not a decision that has been received well in boxing.

Eddie Hearn, a fight figure who knows Paul well due to the number of co-promotions they’ve worked on together, admires Paul’s desire but he doesn’t believe that the American star is worthy of a high ranking at this point.

"Sometimes governing bodies have to live in that commercial world as well,” said Hearn when speaking to IFLTV

“Tommy Fury's a proper fighter and Jake Paul would make a statement if he won that fight. Not a statement that he can challenge for a world title, but, ultimately, there's a little bit of publicity in there.

“Is it right? Not really. Because there's fighters that deserve to be in the top 15 much more than Jake Paul, but it's the world we live in.”
