Boxing is set for a shake up when the first ever tag team boxing match takes place at MF & DAZN: X-Series 005 in Telford on Saturday night.

The bout, which can be seen live on DAZN, sees B Dave and Luis Pineda take on IcePoseidon and Anthony Vargas at light heavyweight, but does this type of match have a future in the sport?

This was a topic of discussion on The DAZN Boxing Show and Akin 'Ak' Reyes believes hardcore fans should not be voicing frustrations towards the stipulation.

"True boxing fans, I guess the ones that call themselves hardcore fans that don’t like this, they don’t have to watch it," Ak said.

"They are tapping into an audience that is going there for that, you can’t get upset with it, it’s not interfering with boxing.

"Despite what people may think with YouTubers or entertainers coming into the sport is affecting boxing, that’s not true."

Barak Bess held similar views and explained that if the format does not interefere with 'real' boxing, then it is something that should not trouble those who criticise crossover boxing.

"You know how fans are, sometimes we get upset and I only say it affects us when the belts get involved with those kind of fights," Barak stated.

"If you are taking away from our belts, then to me that’s a problem. But if you’re a YouTuber and you want to box, I’m not mad at you."
