Joe Cordina has fought at super-featherweight for the last time after losing his world to title to Anthony Cacace earlier this month.
Cordina has enjoyed a solid run at 130lbs, but he was sensationally stopped by Cacace in one of the year’s biggest upsets.
The next move for Cordina appears to be a jump to 135lbs where he’ll hope he can become a two-weight champion.
A rematch with Cacace had been speculated but Eddie Hearn, Cordina’s promoter, has confirmed that his fighter will now fight at 135lbs.
“For Joe, the difficulty staying at 130 was how long can you stay there,” said Hearn when speaking to Matchroom Boxing.
“Now that he’s suffered that defeat, he’ll definitely be moving to 135, and congratulations to Cacace. It was a very impressive, powerful performance from him.”
