Anthony Joshua could be on the brink of a world heavyweight title shot.
Matchroom's Eddie Hearn has laid out a three-fight plan for former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Joshua returns to the ring on March 8 when he faces former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia with the winner tipped to face either Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk who meet for the undisputed heavyweight title on May 18.

However, with Fury vs. Usyk taking place two months after Joshua faces Ngannou, there a is chance Joshua could fight again before facing Fury or Usyk, and according to Hearn, this could come against Filip Hrgovic who is the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title.

"The timing worked perfectly for AJ to stop Ngannou and for Fury to win. We appreciate there's this fight and this rematch, but you know how things are going to go," Hearn told iFL TV

"Come on, you know how His Excellency moves. When the biggest fight in the history of the sport is in front of you to make, I'm sure he'll find a way to keep everybody happy and make that fight but it's irrelevant right now.

"We need that fight to happen and now that fight is happening two months after our fight. So it sounds more likely that if AJ is triumphant, he will fight Filip Hrgovic for a world title, which is fine and then we'll fight the winner of Fury vs Usyk.

"AJ is just like 'Sign me up to everything, I'm going to beat everyone.'"

Fury and Usyk were originally set to meet on February 17, but a new date had to be scheduled after Fury picked an injury in training camp which will sideline the WBC champion for a number of months.
