Eddie Hearn explains how he can make Terence Crawford a 'big star'

The promoter claims he knows how to make the American a household name.

One of the biggest names in boxing, Terence Crawford, is back in action on Saturday when he faces WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov live on DAZN

After becoming an undisputed champion at welterweight, Crawford is now bidding to become a world champion in a fourth weight class, and if successful, add to what is already a Hall of Fame calibre career.

However, if there is one criticism to throw at Crawford, it's the fact that he is someone who is relatively unknown outside of boxing circles.

This was highlighted by Madrimov's promoter Eddie Hearn in an interview with BoxingScene who is left confused as to why Crawford is not a bigger star in America.

"One of the problems in boxing in America is that the public doesn’t get an opportunity to see what the individual is like, and I feel if people got to see Terence Crawford and what he stood for – the way he lives his life, the way he works, the way he respects the game and the way he raises his kids, in their athletics and wrestling, that should be championed," Hearn said before explaining how he would try a raise the three-weight world champion's profile.

“I don’t really understand why, in your country, you don’t champion him more. Obviously, people aren’t promoting him the right way. People aren’t pushing him.

"If I promoted Terence Crawford, I’d want all of America to know this guy. And I think you’d love him."

Crawford's clash with Madrimov headlines a stacked card in Los Angeles which also features former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. and current WBA super lightweight champion Isaac Cruz.
