Matchroom's Eddie Hearn believes Australia will be celebrating a world heavyweight champion in the not too distant future after watching his young charge Teremona Teremona Jnr's latest destruction.

The 26-year-old took just 52 seconds to knockout German Osabu Otobo, while fighting on the Jai Opetaia vs David Nyika card on the Gold Coast

That made it six knockouts in his six professional fights for the 2023 Pacific Games Gold medallist.

Hearn told DAZN post-fight: "They say don't get excited too early, but it is time to get excited about Teremona Jnr right now.

"Australian boxing is on fire right now and this is the future right here in Teremona. I truly believe Australia has a great chance of having a future heavyweight champion. I want the whole country to get behind this guy.

"He is a young prospect, he is a great man and he can really fight. This is a dangerous, dangerous man. That's six fights, six knockouts and I believe he is going all the way to the world heavyweight title.

"You could be looking at Australia's world heavyweight champion. So get behind him."

The 6'6" fighter will fight again in March, as Hearn looks to build Teremona Jnr's experience quickly, which could soon mean moving to fights outside of Australia.

Hearn's faith in the young Australian is backed up by fellow Aussie boxing sensation, WBC women's featherweight world champion Skye Nicolson.

Working as a pundit for DAZN, Nicolson said: "The hype is real. It is impossible not to like him, he is a great character and he can really fight.

"You can't take your eyes off his fights, as you will miss something.

"Activity is going to be key for him I think, he needs more fights quickly. He will struggle to get opponents here [Australia], so I think they will have to move him a little quicker than they were originally planning to. He is going to be a tough task for anyone he comes up against.

"He will be at world level very quickly. He is young and has everything going for him. It is very exciting for Australian boxing."
