Eddie Hearn hopes to confirm Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor next week after a period of rocky negotiations.
Serrano vs. Taylor at Madison Square Garden has long been an ambition of Hearn and he hopes to stage the event in 2022.
The road is clear for the pair to meet with their respective schedules, and the Matchroom promoter told the DAZN Boxing Show that he hoped he could give good news soon.
“Standby, you’re not going to get it on this fight, but I'd like to think next week we can give you some great news,” he said.
He then explained that talks briefly hit a rough patch before those involved realised what was at stake.
“It was plain sailing, it was too good, it hit a little bit of a rocky patch but we’re almost through that now,” he said.
“Everyone wants what they feel is fair for their fighter. They clashed a little bit. It got a little bit spicy but we got some sensible heads on it over the weekend, but let’s not mess this up now. This is the greatest thing to happen in female boxing.”
