Eddie Hearn has praised Tyson Fury’s boxing expertise as the WBC champion prepares for his title defence against Dillian Whyte.
Hearn is Whyte’s promoter and the British heavyweight will finally get his shot at a title after spending years waiting for his chance as the WBC interim belt holder.
With Anthony Joshua now waiting for Oleksandr Usyk to be able to contest his rematch later in the year, Fury and Whyte were ordered by their governing body to organise a clash.
That will now happen on April 23rd at Wembley Stadium.
Fury and Hearn appear to have a friendly relationship and when speaking to IFL TV, the Matchroom promoter explained the nature of their exchanges.
“Fury was messaging me last night with a clip of me going, ‘Oh, I don’t think it will sell out,’” he said.
“He was like, ‘Haa.’
“I’m like, mate, how are you sitting at home thinking about me?
“I said to him, ‘It’s very cute that you’re thinking about me sweet cheeks, I’ll see you soon. That’s what I replied.”
That was not the only contact he has had.
“I get a few calls [from him] now and again, missed calls when he’s out and about,” Hearn continued.
“Listen, I actually like Tyson Fury, I don’t mind him at all. He’s a lot different in person to what you see on social media, a lot different.
“He’s actually a very knowledgeable boxing head as well.
“Last time I was with him, he actually went through our entire stable talking about [them], he knows his stuff."
