Eddie Hearn would like to see a fight between Joe Cordina and Leigh Wood in 2024 after the Welshman retained his IBF super-featherweight title against Edward Vazquez.
Cordina entered the bout a huge favourite, but he was pushed all the way by the Texas fighter before securing a majority verdict decision.
After two tough encounters in 2023, Cordina, who defeated Shavkat Rakhimov earlier this year, could be heading towards a domestic encounter next with Wood a possible contender.
The Nottingham man looks set to leave the featherweight division behind following a brutal encounter against Josh Warrington last month and Cordina is in his sights.
“I love all domestic fights,” said Hearn when speaking to Matchroom Boxing on what’s next for Cordina.
“I think Leigh Wood/Joe Cordina would be a great fight, but I’d like to see Joe Cordina fight the champions.
“Whether that’s a trip to Las Vegas, New York, or outdoors in Cardiff, it’s time to roll the dice in the big ones.”
