Eddie Hearn has provided a huge update on who Dmitry Bivol will face next after it became clear that it won’t be Canelo Alvarez.
Since losing to Bivol last year, Canelo has spoken passionately about avenging his loss, but it appears that we’re no closer for official confirmation of the bout with the pair still unable to agree a deal.
Canelo, like the majority of his career, is currently linked to a number of names with David Benavidez, Badou Jack and Jermall Charlo all seemingly on his radar.
That has led to Bivol looking elsewhere and Hearn, the promoter of Bivol, is looking close to home when considering the next opponent for the WBA light-heavyweight champion.
“I love Bivol against Anthony Yarde. I think that’s a fight we’re going to speak to George Warren about. He’s earned the right for another fight after another great performance,” said Hearn when speaking to Boxing Social.
“I think Dan Azeez has got himself to number two. He’s won British, Commonwealth and European championships. I’d love to give him the shot against Dimitry Bivol.
“It’s a great story and if anyone is going to get a shot, I’d like it to give it to a British fighter, so we’ll open negotiations with Dan Azeez if he’s a free agent.”
