Israil Madrimov may have lost to Terence Crawford earlier this month, but that hasn’t prevented Eddie Hearn from still holding a high opinion of his fighter.
The Matchroom boss believed the Uzbek star done enough to win the contest, but it was Crawford who got the nod on the scorecards.
Despite the loss, Madrimov’s performance earned him many plaudits as he pushed Crawford all the way to the final bell.
Crawford is the number one fighter for some at 154lbs, but Hearn thinks Madrimov is the man who should be on top of the rankings.
“I think people still don’t give Israil Madrimov enough credit. He is the best 154-pounder in the world,” said Hearn when speaking on the Stomping Ground.
“If you think he lost the fight, then he’s the second 154-pounder in the world.”
