Tyson Fury is set to fight Francis Ngannou in a ‘no knockdown’ exhibition clash, according to rumours discussed by Eddie Hearn.
Ngannou left the UFC ahead of a switch to PFL, but he was first expected to entertain a crossover fight before returning to MMA.
WBC champion Fury has no mandatory obligations and his proposed undisputed fight with Ukrainian unified champion appears no closer to being arranged.
Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren promised a ‘game changing’ next fight for his fighter, and an exhibition with Ngannou would certainly be novel.
Speaking to Boxing Social, promoter Eddie Hearn discussed the rumours he had heard.
He said: “Yes, I believe so [It will be Francis Ngannou], this is what I’ve heard. It will apparently be an exhibition, no knockdowns or anything – I don’t know, I’m only telling you what I’ve heard and that is apparently going to be the next fight.
“Disappointing, but it is what it is. It’ll be a big event but I wanted to see him fight Usyk, it would be nice to get an undisputed champion, but Tyson is in charge of his own career and I’m sure he’s going to make a load of money and good luck to him.”
