Jaron Ennis has called out Terence Crawford to no avail and he's seemingly not waiting.
During a recent sitdown interview for his Matchroom Boxing YouTube page, Eddie Hearn said he's actively trying to get a next fight lined up for the IBF welterweight world champion.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter said the problem is that the other world titleholders at 147 pounds in Mario Barrios, Eimantas Stanionis and Brian Norman have all rejected the company's offers to fight Ennis in a unification bout. However, Hearn said out of those opponents, though, the one that "has legs" is Norman, the WBO welterweight world champ.
"We've made Top Rank two offers now for Brian Norman — both have been rejected in a pleasant fashion," Hearn said on Friday. "He posted yesterday saying we made a counter offer. We've not received any counter offer. So Brian, if you'd like to make a counter offer, please hurry up and do so. But I want to make that fight."
Added Hearn: "If Brian Norman has the balls and Brian Norman is genuine ... Brian, if you're genuine, let's go, let's speed it up, let's get this fight made because these are the kind of fights we should be making."
In response to Hearn's interview, Brian Norman's father, Brian Norman Sr., told FightHype.com that indeed a counter offer was sent.
“The first offer was ridiculous but the second offer was close and we can work with that a little bit," Norman Sr. said. "So anyway, we asked ‘what’s your final offer?’ There has been no response, nothing since then."
Norman is coming off a 10th-round knockout of Giovani Santillan in May to improve to 26-0 with 20 KOs.
Ennis stopped David Avanesyan in July and stands 32-0 with 29 KOs.
