Andy Ruiz and Zhilei Zhang, the two rumoured opponents for Tyson Fury’s next fight, won’t give the current WBC champion any problems.
That’s the verdict from Eddie Hearn, who has dismissed the chances of both contenders despite both entering a potential fight against Fury in decent form following wins in their last outings.
Fury had been locked in talks with the team of Oleksandr Usyk for a number of weeks earlier this year but an agreement between the heavyweight champions couldn’t be reached.
With Fury now looking at a summer outing, the frontrunners for the bout appear to be Zhang and Ruiz, but Hearn doesn’t like the chances for either fighter to end Fury’s unbeaten run.
“Zhilei Zhang will not win a round against Tyson Fury,” said Hearn when speaking with Boxing Social.
“Andy Ruiz will probably not win a round against Tyson Fury, as he didn’t against Anthony Joshua in the second fight, but he’s got to fight someone.
“I don’t mind the Andy Ruiz fight, but I just think Zhang’s too slow, at least Ruiz has got some speed.”
