Eddie Hearn is still hopeful that the eagerly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua can take place next year.

The teams of both fighters were recently in discussions to secure the contest for later this year, but with a deal unable to be agreed, Fury now defends his WBC crown against Derek Chisora on December 3rd.

Joshua’s next move is still unknown at this point as the former two-time world champion aims to bounce back from successive losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Numerous names have been linked to his comeback including Demsey McKean and Otto Wallin, but Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, still wants to revisit the Fury fight at some stage in the next 12 months.

“What I know is that the communication was good with his team and hopefully eventually in 2023 that fight can be made," said Hearn when speaking with DAZN News.

"Joshua is my boss and if he tells me I have to do it, I do it. If he tells me I want to fight Tyson Fury, we look to make it happen, but for me it has to take his time, but at the same time I want to see him in the big fights."
