Eddie Hearn has given a promising update on whether Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will finally meet inside the ring.

Eubank Jr and Benn were scheduled to meet last October, but a failed drugs test from Benn saw the fight cancelled during fight week.

Since then, Benn has been involved in numerous legal battles to clear his name and with an end in sight, Hearn is hopeful the fight can finally be made for later this year.

"We’re looking at Chris Eubank Jr, it was one of the biggest fights we’ve nearly promoted," Hearn told The DAZN Boxing Show when asked about what is next for Benn.

"It was the fastest selling fight at the O2, biggest grossing gate at the O2.

"Whatever way you want to look at it through the ups and downs, the controversy that Conor Benn has had, he hasn’t been out of anyone’s mouth for a year.

"He hasn’t boxed for a year and a half now, these tests that he’s failed was a year ago. We’ve been through the whole process with the WBC, they reinstated him into the rankings.

"We’re going through the process with UKAD, the British Boxing Board of Control, he can’t be doing anymore.

"Once that position is cleared with UKAD, we would like to do this fight in the UK in September and I think there’s a very good chance that can happen.

"If not, Abu Dhabi are interested in staging the fight and I think it can happen there as well."
