Eddie Hearn reveals talks for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for British debut in title fight return against mandatory challengerDAZN

Eddie Hearn hopes to make a fight between John Ryder and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The Mexican super middleweight undisputed champion regularly works with promoter Hearn to put together his fights, and he is expected back in May after recovering from surgery.

His last fight was a trilogy rematch victory over Gennadiy Golovkin, getting back to winning ways after defeat against light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol appears to be targeting an undisputed title clash with fellow champion Artur Beterbiev, leaving Canelo for another fight ahead of any rematch.

Ryder is the WBO mandatory challenger after claiming the interim title with a win over Zach Parker, and speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn said he hoped to organise a title fight for the duo.

“That’s the plan,” he said. “Speaking to Eddie Reynoso and the team, we’re negotiating that fight. Obviously Canelo’s got options but he is a mandatory.

“We’re trying to agree a deal with Canelo Alvarez, and we’re trying to agree a deal with John Ryder. We’d like to see that fight internationally, trying something a little different for Saul, and hopefully we can conclude a deal for that in the coming weeks.”

Asked about a potential venue, he suggested Canelo could make his British debut, listing “UK, Middle East, US, even Mexico.”
