Eddie Hearn is in no rush to see Mikaela Mayer face the winner of Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano.
Taylor fights Serrano on April 30 in a fight shown live on DAZN and whomever wins will be the undisputed champion at 135lbs.
Mayer currently fights five pounds lighter and last weekend defeated Jennifer Han in an impressive performance in California.
The 31-year-old American has suggested that if she cannot unify in her current division she will look to step up, ideally to fight one of Taylor or Serrano depending on the outcome of their fight.
Currently Hyun Mi Choi is the WBA champion and Alycia Baumgardner holds the WBC strap.
“No, no, no, no…stop that,” Hearn said during The DAZN Boxing Show regarding Mayer’s chances.
He wants her to stay at 130 and collect more belts. “There’s only one fight for Mayer: Alicia Baumgardner. We need an undisputed champion at 130 pounds.”
“There’s also Choi,” Hearn continued. “We need to make that unification. But if Choi’s not ready, let’s just make the fight. We need to make these great fights. Taylor-Serrano, the best fight that could be made. Shields-Marshall great fight…Mayer against Baumgardner, you talk about bad blood. You talk about hot talk. Those two will go at it. Alycia Baumgardner makes her first defence this Saturday in Manchester.”
“Let’s make Mayer against Baumgardner. This is a mega fight for boxing. Two fantastic American fighters who will just go at it out of the ring, go at it in the ring. It’s a sensational fight for boxing.
"And yes, the winner of that could maybe fight Taylor and Serrano. But first let’s find that undisputed champion at 130 pounds.”
