Eddie Hearn said that Angel Fernandez taking over as head trainer for Anthony Joshua could be a part of wider changes.
Joshua has confirmed Fernandez’s promotion with Rob McCracken having been his previous trainer.
Now it appears that the former IBF, WBA and WBO champion has reacted to defeat against Oleksandr Usyk back in September by making some changes to his setup. He had toured gyms across Texas and California.
Speaking to IFL TV, Hearn said that the most important thing was that Joshua was happy with the changes, and suggested there could be further additions.
“I’m sure there will be some other faces in the camp as well,” he said.
“He’s working well with Angel in Loughborough. Angel’s been a big part of the team for quite a few fights, it’s really about AJ being comfortable and happy, and he is in that position.”
Joshua had been expected to fight his rematch with Usyk in May this year, but the war in Ukraine may cause some delay with the new champion back in his home country.
