Edgar Berlanga is likely to fight either Jaime Munguia or Diego Pacheco, according to his strength and conditioning coach Angel ‘Memo’ Heredia.
Berlanga is set to fight on February 24, live on DAZN, when he comes up against Padraig McCrory, with both fighters putting their undefeated records on the line.
Berlanga is known for his knockout power after landing 16 consecutive first-round stoppages from his professional debut, and a win could put him in the frame for a much bigger fight.
Munguia fights John Ryder, also on DAZN, on January 27, while Pacheco most recently fought in November, defeating Marcelo Coceres.
“He knows there is a lot at [stake] on the 24th. If he looks good then it’s probably Jaime Munguia or Diego Pacheco. We are targeting those two guys. That will be up to his manager but that is what we are targeting,” Heredia told BoxingScene.com.
“Right now we are just focused on the 24th and putting on a spectacular show here in Orlando in front of all of his Puerto Rican fans. It’s going to be nice.”
