Current WBO NABO super middleweight champion Edgar Berlanga believes Jaime Munguia is the "perfect" next opponent for him despite the Mexican fighter holding a professional record of 42-0.

Berlanga, whose parents are from Puerto Rico, secured the 21st win of his unbeaten career to date against Jason Quigley last weekend, his fifth straight victory by unanimous decision after 16 consecutive wins by knockout.

Since that win, Berlanga has named Munguia and Gennadiy 'GGG' Golovkin as two fighters he would like to fight next, while there have also been talks of a fight against either Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez or John Ryder.

Speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, Berlanga talked about a potential fight against Munguia: "That fight has to be at Madison Square Garden, that would be an easy sell-out.

"He's an elite fighter, I'm an elite fighter so that makes so much sense.

"For me, he's like a robot, he's going to come and throw punches and he doesn't give a f___ if he gets hit, that's the perfect fighter for me.

"GGG is a big fight too, he'll go down as a hall of famer, but right now with the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico thing being crazy, that alone is out of this world.

"Now I'm sitting back, I'm going to let me team handle everything. Whatever name comes up, we will take that fight next."
